Protesting for Peace

protest Elaine, Tom, Lucia, and her host mother protested the war in Iraq earlier in May. Tom and Lucia made their protest signs themselves. They attended a Wednesday night peace vigil on the Lake Street bridge.

Later, Peter and Colton had their own “Peace” march through Grandma Elaine’s neighborhood. The carried their signs and chanted “No more fight! No more fight!”.

Annabelle and family are settling in at home

annabelle Annabelle left the hospital today with her mom and dad. She’s now at home with Kristie and Joe, Colton and her dog Bear. The weather was nice and she was able to take a walk around the neighborhood with her family today. They are settling in and getting used to being a family of four.

Her nursery looks wonderful and the house sure looks prepared for their new arrival.

Joe has done a huge amount of work on the house in the last month, working day and night to get the basement remodeled before the baby came home. Well, the baby is home now and the basement looks great. There is still a little work left to be done, but as of today, getting the basement finished is no longer priority one for Joe.

Joe and Kristie have passed along some of their digital photos, which I’ve added to the picture site.

Joe and Kristie’s new baby girl

baby Joe and Kristie’s new baby girl entered this world Tuesday February 24th around 12:50pm. She was born 6 pounds 10 ounces and 19 inches long. Both mother and daughter and doing fine. Joe is a very proud daddy and Colton is very happy to be a big brother.

Her mom and dad aren’t quite ready to announce her name to the whole world, but they assure us we will find out soon.

There were more than a few cameras recording the happy day. I’ve uploaded a few of these pictures. Click here to take a look at them. I’m sure as her family has time to get pictures developed, they will have me upload plenty more.

The birthday party

birthday2004 I’ve added a few pictures from Peter’s most recent birthday party to the photo gallery. It was a wonderful afternoon with Peter opening presents and sharing cake and ice cream with his family.

Peter wasn’t real sure about turning three. For about a week before his birthday, he was insisting he didn’t want to turn three and instead wanted to remain two this year. He liked the idea of a birthday party and presents, but he said he liked being two and would really rather stay that way.

Peter and Elaine made the birthday cake and Peter got to decorate it himself. It was a dinosaur cake complete with trees, rocks, and lots of dinosaurs. Very cool! He’s now decided the whole birthday thing was a good idea, being three is pretty good afterall, and he’s now looking forward to turning four.

Peter’s sense of humor

Our son, Peter, has developed a taste for Knock-Knock jokes. He comes up with his own jokes, which he finds hilarious. His most recent creation was:

Knock-Knock…
Who’s there?
Funny!!!
Funny who?

At this point he says “Funny! Funny! Funny!”, puts his thumbs in his ears like moose horns and turns around in a circle while making his own interpretation of Moose noises.

This is followed by lots of laughter as he admires his own sense of humor. We hear this one around the house a lot.

Santa, elves, and Reindog stop by Ken and Elaine’s house

Xmas2003 Shortly before Christmas this year, Santa Claus, several of his elves, and Santa’s “reindog” Rudolph made a quick visit to my parents house. Peter and my nephew Colton just happened to be over helping their grandparents decorate the Christmas tree at the time of the visit. What great luck! Santa’s elves were a little bit shifty looking, as you can tell from the picture, but they were as jolly as could be. Accompanying Santa were his elves, Shifty, Dicey, Studly, and Flasher. Flasher was the elf with the cigar. Peter is still talking about how kind it was of Santa to take time out of his busy schedule right before Christmas to visit Peter and his cousin.

A dog’s life

Wow. As a dog, I don’t get many opportunities for blogging. I’m not tall enough to sit up on Mike’s chair and I don’t have the slightest clue as to how to use the computer.

Most of my time is spent sleeping, running around in my dog-pen, or begging for food. I can’t begin to imagine what my dog-life would be like if I used the computer more frequently than I do right now (which isn’t much…).

Maybe if I can interest Murray in using the computer, he’ll drop that rawhide chew-thing he’s eating right now, and I can take it.
